Well worth it

Interesting museum run by enthusiastic volunteers. There is a wide range of artefacts related to the history of the local area dating from prehistoric times to the present. Local industry, especially agriculture, brewing and paper making are represented. The star item is the Saxon decorated buckle. Well worth a visit.

What a fantastic walk back in time. Extremely helpful, well-informed staff

Small museum but with an excellent layout (history chronograph flow for example).

A great local museum that charts the history of the Alton area. There is a useful local history archive for anyone tracing the ancestors. The volunteers always offer a friendly welcome. Well worth a visit!
